Someone is knocking on the door of Windows Phone 8.1 house. Samsung Ativ S is getting it's most awaited update. Get ready to get updates to Windows Phone 8.1 as Samsung has started to roll out the update to their beloved users. Samsung is so slow in releasing updates to it's handsets. Now the wait is getting over. Major Windows Phone update has touched to Ativ S. The update is on OTA basis.

The update will take time to get into all Ativ S owners. Nokia, has earlier rolled out Windows Phone 8.1 updates (Lumia Cyan) to most of their handsets. Samsung has very much lagged behind them. Also HTC is behind the walls as they also need to bring out updates to most of their handsets. As per the sources, Ativ S is getting Windows Phone 8.1 updates to owners in both Italy and Germany. They are expanding the update avilability and Europian countries will be the first to get the updates.

Windows Phone 8.1 update is coming with some new features such as Action Center to display the notifications, new Background Image option, Custom Ringtones, File Manager support, Swipe keyboard, HTML5 improvements and lot more.

So check if you got the earlier update now...

Samsung's flagship phone, Samsung Galaxy S5 to get Android 5.0 Lollipop update by December this year. LG earlier said that they will update their flagship line devices as well as some mid-range devices by the end of 2014. As Samsung is very much appreciated in their feature rich custom UI, TouchWiz is still the main weapon as it will be updated with new features, graphics and better accessibility options.




Samsung is not well appreciated when it comes to software updates. The update is said to be available by end of 2014 but it is not clear whether it will be rolled out to S5 owners worldwide. So expect the update to be released in the first two months of 2015.

If you are locked to any carrier, then it's bad luck! If you are on AT&T or Verizon or any other carrier, there is no roadmap of updated to those devices. Samsung is rolling out these to unlocked devices (I assume).

Samsung India has officially launched the Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 in India. This mid-range phablet in India costs about ₹20,900. India was eagerly awaiting this device after its revealing in US, Thailand and Malaysia.
The device is available from Samsung Store. The color options for this phone are black and white as always.

Barnes & Noble in partnership with Samsung, released their new addition to Nook family. Samsung earlier released their first tablet in collaboration with Barnes & Noble to Nook family as Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook 7" and this 10.1" is no upgrade to it besides the display.


This new $300 Nook 10.1 features a 10.1" screen which has the same resolution that of the predecessor (1,280 x 800  pixel with same 149ppi density). This tablet comes with a Snapdragon quad-core Cortex-A7 chipset and boasts 16GB of inbuilt memory and can expand upto 64GB via memory card. Barnes & Noble guarantees up to 10hrs of video usage in this tablet. It has Wireless connectivity via Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g/n) and it has Android 4.4 KitKat with Barnes & Noble launcher and other exclusive apps from them. Like any other, it has Google Play store also with magazines, apps.


In the camera side, this tablet has a 3MP rear snapper and 1.3MP front shooter. With GLONASS feature, tracking is also possible. With 7.95mm thickness, it provides a light, handy feeling also. It comes preloaded with Barnes & Noble best selling content for free.

Samsung launched their mid range Samsung Galaxy Core Max to China. It's a mid range Android 4.4 KitKat smartphone with dual sim and their new TouchWiz UI.

Samsung Galaxy Core Max features a Super AMOLED 4.8" display with 960 x 540 pixels qHD resolution. The powerhouse of Core Max is a 1.2GHz quad-core CPU which we have not yet got any information about the chipset. As far it is the Chinese version, it can be MediaTek chipset. It is a 4G supported for China Mobile or China Unicom. With 1GB of ram and 8GB built in memory, it gives a good performance and storage. Bluetooth 4.0 and location technology includes GPs/Glonass/Beidou.

In the rear, Samsung Galaxy Core Max boasts an 8MP camera and on the front it has a good 5MP wide angle lens camera. The energy house of this phone features a 2,200mAh battery. With only 8mm thickness, this great mid range Galaxy gives a good company.
